Ho Ho Hoping You Have a Great Christmas, Holiday Tips and Tricks

By Contributing Author CC Benitez, President of Lil Chameleon Tuckahoe December 17, 2018

Our friend C.C. over at Lil Chameleon in Tuckahoe has some ideas to keep you sane during the holidays. They can be a stressful and overwhelming times, but here are a few tips and tricks to pull up your ugly-sweater sleeves and have a good time.

Tip #1:
Relax. Breath. Then Dig In!

We promise it's going to be okay!

Tip #2:
Have copious amounts of adult beverages in the house. And chocolate or cookies work just as well in a pinch!

Tip #3:
Recheck in closets, under the bed and in the basement for those gifts you hid so well. It's not the same giving a Christmas gift in June.

Trick #1:
Keep it Simple
If you have a child under 3, most likely the box, wrapping paper, and a bow is enough to keep them entertained for a while. Do not buy more last minutes gifts when you think the pile isn't big enough!

Trick #2:
Create a stress-free ritual.

Grab a hot beverage, take a walk through your neighborhood and look at the holiday lights.
Tie up your kids, get on your coats and grab the dog. Just kidding--leave the dog. You might as well leave your husband behind, too.

Trick #3:
Stop to smell your tree. So you can recall all of the New York City taxi cabs of your past.

And while you're at it, lay down next to it and look up at it. A different perspective works to clear your head -- most of the time. Also, put a bow on your head and tell your family, YOU ARE THE PRESENT!

Trick #4:
Traveling this season with young kids?

Pack a "surprise bag" of goodies, and every hour, pull out a different surprise.
They don't have to be fancy or new, but they'll love something different to do or focus on. Making long flights or road trips a bit easier and you don't have to rely on a screen to get by.  Think a piece of gum, silly putty, a small toy, a glow stick, reusable stickers, a dryerase board, a whoopee cushion (actually that's all you'll need to get kicked off the plane).

Trick #5:
Share an experience.

Head in to the City and check out Santaland at Macy's, Sake's Fifth Ave, St Patrick's Cathedral, new American Girl Store or Rockefeller Center.
